Standing ovations for the Olympic medalists at the Budapest Circus! Today’s performance celebrates our Olympic champion Kós Hubert!

The artists and the audience celebrate our successful Olympians together at the Budapest Grand Circus! It is a nice tradition that after the performance, the applause order – when the artists performing in our show are applauded – celebrates together the athletes who win bronze, silver or gold medals at the Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris – thus gaining recognition, success and appreciation for our country, Hungary and the Hungarian people. Yesterday, our medal-winning Olympic champions were applauded by the performers and the audience with standing ovations. At the end of yesterday’s performance, we celebrated five of our Hungarian compatriots who had the chance to stand on top of the world the night before! At the Summer Olympics in Paris, Kristóf Milák won the 200m butterfly and our men’s sword team – Csanád Gémesi, Krisztián Rabb, András Szatmári, Áron Szilágyi – all won silver medals thanks to their outstanding talent, diligence and performance!

A video of the celebration can be seen at the link below:

In today’s show, the applause and ovation goes to Hubert Kós, who won the 200m backstroke final with a great chase, thus winning the first Olympic gold medal for the Hungarian delegation.

“I knew that if I did what I could and should do, everything would be fine,” said the 21-year-old Hungarian youngster, now not only European and world champion, but also Olympic champion Kós Hubert, after his overwhelming victory. These are feelings that we can fight against when we are stressed out before a performance or competition, when we have stage fright and stomach cramps and are so nervous that our palms sweat, but we can also put these feelings in the right place, and that is the point. And that is the most important switch in the life of an artist or athlete. When the starting gun goes off or you step out in front of the curtain into the spotlight, the eyes of the world are on you, and you just do what you can and what you need to do — and you’ll be fine!

We invite you to our performance “Stars Like Pins on the Sky” at 15:00 and to join us for a celebration after the performance. Let’s cheer together for the success of Hungarian athletes!
